Uniting Cultures, Honoring Ancestors

Rock Your Mocs is more than just an event; it is a powerful global movement that celebrates Indigenous cultures and honors the ancestors of Native American and Indigenous Peoples worldwide. Founded by Jaylyn Atsye of Laguna Pueblo, New Mexico, U.S.A., this annual celebration encourages everyone to wear their moccasins as a visible sign of pride, connection, and solidarity.

The image above from 2013, which you can view here: Rock Your Mocs 2013, captures the essence of this vibrant initiative. It reminds us of the simple yet profound way we can participate: by wearing our moccasins to school, work, or wherever our day takes us.

Why Rock Your Mocs?

At its core, Rock Your Mocs is about acknowledging and celebrating the rich history, traditions, and resilience of Indigenous communities. Moccasins, often intricately crafted and deeply symbolic, represent a tangible link to ancestral knowledge and cultural identity. By wearing them, participants not only express their individual heritage but also contribute to a collective display of unity and respect for Indigenous Peoples globally.

This event serves as a significant highlight during National Native American Heritage Month, providing a unique and personal way to engage with and appreciate Indigenous contributions to society. It's a reminder that cultural celebration knows no bounds – "Your Rez, my Rez, right where you're at and all over the world!"

Join the Movement

Rock Your Mocs is a testament to the enduring spirit of Indigenous cultures and a call for broader recognition and appreciation. Whether you are Indigenous or an ally, participating in Rock Your Mocs is a meaningful way to show your support and contribute to a global celebration of heritage.
