The Hmong New Year is a deeply rooted tradition within the Hmong culture--it's a celebration of accomplishments during the past year and a time to welcome a new beginning. Its modern day celebration in the US is a reflection of change, progress, and growth. This week the Sacramento Hmong New Year (SHNY) at Cal Expo is expected to draw thousands of visitors from across California, the US and internationally to Sacramento. Join Elk Grove School Board Trustee Steve Ly, Assemblymember Roger Dickinson, and the Sacramento Hmong community at the State Capital on Wednesday, November 27th from 12-4pm for the first ever Hmong New Year KICK-OFF! ---AGENDA--- Opening Remarks.
