  1. These spiky hats are also of recent design. These hats started appearing around the 70’s and 80’s. Before that, these hats weren’t around.

  2. My mother told me that these hats are not of traditional style and started appearing around that time. The design then was brought over to the US by Hmong refugees and became very popular from the 80’s to early 90’s. After that, they don’t wear them as much.

  3. The design was created by the Hmong people that were already living in Thailand. It was the 70’s-80’s, and people wanted to try out new fashion so they created that design. Hmong refugees from Laos escaped to Thailand from persecution and lived there for a while until they got their visa to the US. Once they got their visa, then they also brought over the style of clothing too.
