Idle No More demands environmental justice and Indigenous consultation as grassroots movements push back against government and industry decisions.

Idle No More: Protecting Our Water, Land, and Indigenous Rights

Idle No More has issued an urgent statement, calling on grassroots supporters and allies to join in defending Indigenous sovereignty and the environment. The movement highlights how decisions made by the government and industries are threatening essential resources — our water, land, and future.

“Currently everyone is affected, including our water, land and environment. The current government and industry have been disregarding our collective right to be consulted with any changes that affect us,” says Jessica Gordon, spokesperson for Idle No More.

This movement, led by Indigenous voices, demands a halt to policy decisions that ignore treaty obligations and community impact. The strategy calls for mass mobilization, education, and legal resistance.
